I've been testing the unofficial Firefox 10 build and it is a big
improvement over earlier versions. The video integration is better with
much faster screen updates. Printing is the best firefox native os/2
printing in a web browser that we've had in several years. The new
build is feature-rich which is nice to find on OS/2. All-in-all, a very
nice upgrade. Downloadable from:

There is a focus bug. If you can't enter text into the URL field or
other forms, click the desktop then go back to Firefox.

Yes, I've found that one. Actually, you can still enter text. It just
doesn't make the blinking cursor in the field sometimes.

One other thing that I've noticed is that the sound volume slider in
HTML5 applications which modulate sound volume (i.e. WebM on Youtube)
are slow to respond to a change in the volume level. You move the
volume slider and there's a 1-second delay before the volume ramp ups
rather than instantly as before. That probably does not rise to the
level of a 'bug' but more of a 'difference' from past implementations.

FF10 replaced FF9 here - which strangely enough kept on crashing, particularly
with heavy use (my system stays ON permanently, reboots are driven by a WPS hang
or an update requirement).

Alright...FF10 looks and feels great. No doubt about it, it certainly feels
faster then previous versions. I have only had it installed for about a day
now...so not much longer-term data yet...but I'll report back once a full week
is up.

Thanks again, these updates are greatly appreciated!

I didn't have anything to do with the Firefox builds other than to

I have 2 problems with most recent releases (including FF10, FF9 and
FF8) of Mozilla for OS2 and do not know where to report them to be most
effective.

1) Failure to download: trying to download files causes the system
(ECS21) to freeze a little time after the download starts(and the
download page comes up). The only version I can safely download with is
FF4.

2) vanishing cursor. Boxes to be typed in do not have the vertical
blinking cursor (sometimes); this includes the google search bar, my
online bank, ECS bugtracker among others.

Again, no problem with FF4.

I am running on ECS21 on various platforms. I have the most recent USB
suite but the problems happened prior to installing it.

Best is mozilla.dev.ports.os2 on the news.mozilla.org server.

Have you upgraded to libc064? If so try replacing it with

Yes it is a known problem. Click the desktop to fix the focus.

I saw that hint and checked. I am still on libc063 dated 2007.

No, it's not a focus issue, as when I click in the box and type, the
characters go in the right place, it's only the cursor that's missing.

With SeaMonkey, which I use, I get the cursor back by clicking a
different window. eg if the cursor disappears while typing this,
clicking on the browser window will bring it back.

Actually, I have very occasionally seen this with the latest(?) FF on my
Wife's "Vista" PC. Same symptoms, same fix. Maybe this will help
pinpoint the problem. Is it an SMP issue?

Interesting, I just assumed it was an OS/2 issue. Have to go hunting
through bugzilla.

Is it an SMP issue?
No, it behaves the same on my Warp v4 install which is not SMP.

yes. That works.

Re the other problem (hanging on/after download)

downloading libc064 from netlabs and putting the dll into both ecs\dll
and \firefox improves the situation.

What appears to happen is a lengthy hang, where the instance of firefox
is frozen and will not close (and also the download popup) but I can
open other things (eg an OS2 command window), and CAD also works. Normal
kill will not close the firefox but hard kill will.

In most cases if I wait patiently everything eventually unfreezes (but
not always).

Is there anything else I should be doing? (I have the various "unhang"
settings in config.sys as recommended by the readme).

I now have another problem. One of my standard sites crashes FF10 with 2

not surprisingly, FF complains:

BTW, does that libc064 update fix any problems with kLIBC

I just copy and pasted the URL from a web forum. Possibly it is broken
in other ways. Log into ftp.netlabs.org and navigate to pub/odin and
look for it and perhaps post a corrected URL
