With great difficultly I expect.

How do you normally transfer anything to it? My Android pad will
connect via ftp over WiFi or direct by USB cable.

I use an app called FileBrowser which connects to a Samba server over
wifi. You can then transfer files either way. In my case it is
indirect since both my iPad and my eCS laptop access the Samba server
on a NAS device, but if you ran samba Server on the OS/2 machine then
it would access it directly.

Did you consider WebDAV (the client appears to be standard on the iPad) versus
Samba (NetBios is it not?)?

If I could buy off the shelf a NAS hard drive packaged with Linux and Apache
mod_dav, and incorporating a wireless access point; I would choose it over
trying to install server software on my stable and crowded OS/2 boxes.

Kind of funny that this initial response wouldn't send from my iPad
(since the question was about iPads), but went from my eCS T61 machine
right away. Apparently at some point later it finally got sent from
my iPad. NewsTap/3.5.1 for iPad is generally a decent newsreader,
almost as good as Pronews/2 on eCS, but it burped on this one.

You are lucky enough that you have a newsreader app for your iPad. There
is no such a thing for my webos device :-(
