VLC 2.0.5: no sound

I've just installed this, and while the video seems quite good, I have
no sound.

I am running UniAud (Uniaud195-1926.zip). System sounds and playback
via PM123 v1.35 are perfect.

I do have LBMix installed.

How do I begin to troubleshoot this?

You can use DART mode.

Tools - Preferences - Audio - Output module - K Audio Interface audio
output - Device - DART.

For other issues, I should contact you directly, with the two log files

That's ok.

Or you can paste the contents of the two log files here directly without
attaching. ^^

Perhaps this is a loaded question, but... does UniAud output mode work
for anyone? It never has here, but kai defaults to it. I think that
interface is even known to be broken in the UniAud 2.x test versions,
but it's only ever worked for me in WarpVision (which was always a
bastardized and unauthorized/unethical version of MPlayer).

I've never adjusted the audio output and it has always worked here. Just
tested by changing the default to uniaud and sound worked fine.
Using the drivers that shipped with eCS 2.1 (coincidentally the same are
installed on v4).

I'm ok with UniAud output mode. Of course, I'm using a patched version
of Uniaud audio driver. See http://svn.netlabs.org/uniaud/ticket/191

The history is the following.

When vlad was developing WarpVision and Uniaud, uniaud apis were added
due to the lack capability of DART. At that time, both uniaud apis and
dart apis were working. BTW, vlad seemed to concentrate to uniaud apis
than to dart ones. In the meantime, dart interface was broken.

At this time, I was using SBLive audio driver by Sander. It supported
dart perfectly. So I made a libdart while developing KMP. BTW many
people began to complain that audio does not work on their machines.
They were using Uniaud. But I had no machine to use Uniaud, so I said to
the people to ask vlad to fix this problem. But the situation was not
changed.

Fortunately, I could have a notebook to test Uniaud. By this, libkai was
born unifying dart and uniaud apis. Most of people was using Uniaud. And
dart apis on Uniaud were broken, but uniaud apis were working well. If
so, which mode should I select as a default one ?

BTW, the situation was changed again. Now, David seems to concentrate to
dart, in the meanwhile uniaud apis were broken, reversely.

So I made a patch for Uniaud 192x tree, but abwillis said that this
patch could not be applied to the latest codes. I also did not try this.

This is the current situation.

Nevertheless, if you want to use Uniaud apis, you can download the
patched driver here.

http://www.ecomstation.co.kr/komh/testcase/uniaud32_test.zip

http://www.ecomstation.co.kr/komh/testcase/uniaud32_test_with_small_buffer.zip

The first is the driver that broken uniaud apis are fixed.

The second is the driver that small buffer problem of dart was fixed by
abwillis as well as broken uniaud apis.

Currently, I have no plan to change a default mode.

So you can do the following.

1. Ask David to fix the broken uniaud apis

2. Or just use dart mode( To do this easily, you can just remove
uniaud.dll on your machine or rename it. Of course, I recommend the
latter. ^^)
