Discussion:
RJS CD/DVD writer: replace?
(too old to reply)

Since trying to get the existing DVDwriter to work with RSJ seems to be=20
at a dead end, I wonder if anyone has an alternate (SATA) DVD CD writer=20
that DOS work with RSJ?

They are so cheap nowadays (circa =A312!) that simply replacing it might=20
be the simplest option.

Since trying to get the existing DVDwriter to work with RSJ seems to be
at a dead end, I wonder if anyone has an alternate (SATA) DVD CD writer
that DOS work with RSJ?
They are so cheap nowadays (circa £12!) that simply replacing it might
be the simplest option.
I use a couple of these with RSJ v5.05

http://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-GH24NSC0-AUAR10B-Internal-DVD-RW-M-DISC/dp/B00NE0WDHG

The burners I have do not have the AUAR10B suffix but, looking at the
specs, that seems to be the only difference.

Relevant config.sys entries:-

(In [ Base Device Drivers ] section)
BASEDEV=OS2AHCI.ADD
REM ***** SATA controllers using AHCI mode; ATAPI driver not required *****
REM ***** BASEDEV=DANIATAP.FLT /RSJ

(Towards end of config.sys)
REM *** RSJ CD-Writer File System ***
REM ***** BASEDEV=RSJIDECD.FLT
REM ***** LOCKCDR.FLT does not seem to work with the os2ahci.add driver
REM ***** BASEDEV=LOCKCDR.FLT -I:"DVDRAM GH24NSC0"
DEVICE=j:\programs\cddvd\cdwfs\RSJSCSI.SYS
IFS=j:\programs\cddvd\cdwfs\CDWFS.IFS
RUN=j:\programs\cddvd\cdwfs\CDWFSD.EXE -p "k:/temp" -c102400 -b32768 -t2
-i3 -s0

If I have it right you will also need to modify the RSJ supplied
cddrv.inf file. You should be using a line like this:-

HL-DT-ST "DVDRAM GH24NSC0 " LK00 "HL-DT-STDVDRAM GH24NSC0 " N/A
cdatapi ATAPI CUESHEET
HL-DT-STDVDRAM_GH24NSC0_L

You may find you need to change the firmware, LK00, to whatever is
installed in the burner, cdrecord will show you that.

I think I got the HL-DT-STDVDRAM_GH24NSC0_L bit from info displayed in
the BIOS and youn will also need to check that - or possibly use N/A.

THANKS PETE!!!=20

That worked first time with the unchanged CONFIG.SYS

Lars - if you are interested they work and are quite cheap!
